A Win for Sheriff Hutton in the Vivien Booth Pairs!

Sheriff Hutton Bowling Club is delighted to announce that Drew Foster and Peter McCallum have won the Vivien Booth Pairs, the Ryedale & District Vets Pairs final, beating the previous champions from Easingwold in a thrilling decider.

A nail-biting final

The match looked set for a dramatic finish from the start. Easingwold’s pair, Keith and David, built an early lead, but a crucial 3 at the 5th end put SHBC ahead. The lead changed hands as the ends progressed, and Easingwold’s steady momentum saw them take a 2 at the 16th end to go 1 up.

Foster and McCallum dug deep, taking a single at the 17th end to level the match and set up a last-end showdown with the score at 10–10. In a tense finish, the Sheriff Hutton pair held their nerve to win by the narrowest of margins, 11–10.

Well done to Drew and Peter on a superb performance and a memorable victory for the club. Their win under pressure is a great example of the skill and sportsmanship that make our competitions so enjoyable to watch and play in.
